QUITAPENAS

QUITAPENAS is a tropical Afro-Latin band from Southern California, founded in 2011 by first-generation sons of Guatemalan and Mexican immigrants. Drawing inspiration from the radical aesthetics and rhythms of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, they blend sounds from across the Afro-Latin diaspora, including Angola, Peru, Colombia, and Brazil. Their name means “to remove worries”—and their mission is simple: make you dance and leave you without a worry.
